| Kurt Wehmann was born in Warwick, Rhode Island in 1976, and grew up in Merrimack, New Hampshire. After graduating High School in 1995, Kurt went on to study architecture at Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston, Massachusetts. He graduated in 2000 with a bachelor of architecture, cum laude. He first fell in love with New York City back in 1998, when he had a summer internship at an architecture firm in the World Trade Center. When he returned to Boston at the end of that summer, he knew for certain that NYC is where he belonged. After graduating and working in one of Boston’s highly prominent architecture firms for a year and a half, Kurt finally moved back down to the NYC area in October of 2001. Kurt first realized his passion for photography during his later years at Wentworth, and began showing his work in local Boston cafes between graduation and the move to New York. After four years of living and working in New York, he finally got his act together and had his first NYC photography show at a gallery in Soho- hopefully, to be the first of many. He also first realized his passion for the stage while in college. Performing in comedies, dramas, musicals, as well as student and independent films, Kurt’s acting ability proved itself quite nicely, but he has not explored acting further since moving to NYC. He would like to do more acting again soon, but as of right now the ‘actor’ remains backstage and is waiting, quite kindly & patiently, for the ‘photographer’ to take a break. Kurt has been writing poetry and short stories since the day he learned how to write. However, he has not yet tried to publish, mainly because his inspiration & content is always extremely personal; he writes more as a way of venting, and as a means of therapy, and as a way of dissecting his own brain, as opposed to writing specifically for other peoples’ eyes. Whether or not other people understand his writing and think it good or poor means almost absolutely nothing to him whatsoever. A sort of renaissance man, Kurt also enjoys painting, collage, and even hopes to take a stab at song writing over the next couple of years. Not only an artsy fartsy freak, he also trains as a triathlete- but does not aim to compete in triathlons until well into his thirties, when he would hopefully be better financially equipped to do so. Until then you can catch him swimming regularly with a Masters Team in Manhattan, running a few miles in in the Bedstuy neighborhood of Brooklyn, or battling it out with the cabs on his bicycle on the rough streets of just about every borough of NYC (this kid gets around, folks!). Perhaps one of these days Kurt’s multiple personalities will battle each other out to the finish, and one will be left standing… Until then, Kurt shall go on enjoying the crazy, chaotic, complicated, eccentric, maddening, exciting and unpredictable lifestyle he is currently living. Our culture dictates that when you turn eighteen, you must choose to do one thing, and do that one thing for the rest of your life. Here is one of those nuts who begs to differ. If you wish to contact Kurt for any reason- whether to acquire a print, a poem booklet, to have your picture taken, to receive photography show information, or even if you just want to say hi, you may email him directly at Kurt@bonescribe.com. Also, if you have America Online Instant Messenger, his screen name is SuicideLiberty5. At the disapproval of his mother, Kurt rather enjoys talking to strangers. |
